Cryptosis Releases "Static Horizon," Third Single From Upcoming Album "Celestial Death"

Cryptosis, the Dutch progressive thrash metal band, has unveiled their latest single "Static Horizon" on February 4, 2025. This release marks the third single from their highly anticipated sophomore album "Celestial Death", set to drop on March 7, 2025, via Century Media Records.

"Static Horizon" showcases Cryptosis' evolution as a band, blending their signature thrash metal intensity with sophisticated progressive and atmospheric elements. The song combines black metal atmospheres and symphonic elements with fast prog metal guitar picking and melodic doomy grooves. This diverse musical approach reflects the band's commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring new sonic territories.

The band, consisting of Laurens Houvast (vocals, guitars), Frank te Riet (bass, mellotron), and Marco Prij (drums), has described "Celestial Death" as a darker, heavier, and more cinematic journey compared to their previous works. This artistic progression is evident in "Static Horizon", which delves into existential themes. The song's title represents a feeling of being trapped in a static, unchanging reality, where progress and hope seem distant.

Cryptosis' musical journey began in 2013 when they were known as Distillator, focusing primarily on old-school thrash metal. However, as their musical journey evolved, they rebranded as Cryptosis in 2020, signaling a shift towards a more progressive and futuristic sound. This transformation culminated in their debut album "Bionic Swarm" in 2021, which garnered critical acclaim and established them as a formidable force in the metal scene.

The band's upcoming album "Celestial Death" promises to be a significant milestone in their career. Recorded between April and August 2024, the album was mixed by Fredrik Folkare at Chrome Studios and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Studios in Sweden. The album's artwork, created by renowned artist Eliran Kantor, known for his work with bands like Kreator and Testament, visually represents the album's dark and cinematic themes.

In addition to "Static Horizon", Cryptosis has previously released two other singles from "Celestial Death": "Faceless Matter" and "Reign of Infinite". These releases have collectively painted a picture of an album that explores themes of dystopia, existential dread, and the complexities of human existence in a rapidly changing world.

As Cryptosis prepares for the release of "Celestial Death", they have also announced a European tour with British thrash metal veterans Onslaught, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Onslaught's classic album "Power From Hell". This tour, along with their album release show in Enschede, Netherlands, on March 29, 2025, provides fans with multiple opportunities to experience Cryptosis' evolving sound in a live setting.
