Gaerea to Release New Album/single "Coma": A Dark Exploration of Narcissism and Despair with North American Tour Announced

Portuguese black metal band Gaerea is set to release their new album "Coma" on October 25, 2024, via Season Of Mist. The album, produced by Miguel Tereso of Demigod Recordings, explores themes of narcissism, mental numbness, and self-destructive behaviors. The track "Hope Shatters," included in the album, delves into urban abyss, despair, and the loss of hope.

Early reviews of "Coma" highlight its sleek production and tighter tracks, noting the album's emotional depth and the band's ability to blend nuances of aggression, tranquility, solitude, and fervor. This release marks a transition for Gaerea from strictly black metal to a broader extreme metal sound.

To promote "Coma," Gaerea will embark on a North American tour starting November 23 at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and concluding on December 18 at Studio At The Factory in Dallas, Texas. The tour will feature supporting acts Zeal & Ardor and ZETRA, with stops in major cities including New York, Toronto, Chicago, Seattle, and Los Angeles.

Gaerea, known for their masked identities, approach their albums as film scripts, resulting in vivid and cinematic lyrics and visuals. This creative process is expected to be evident in their latest work, "Coma."
